[PLEASE RATE at http://www.minted.com/designer/sylvieceres]

Happy Friday! How was your week? Aside from enjoying the latest heatwave, I spent the last few days creating submissions for Minted's Never Too Early Art Challenge, a design contest to create customizable art for wee ones. If you have a moment, I would love your support in the form of some ratings! If I win, these designs will be available for sale at Minted later this year. As always, thanks!

We had a friend who was always very cynical about day to day life. She saw the worst in situations we casually brushed off. When she joined us for dinners out, she would be certain the waiter had spit in our food because one of us had asked too many questions about appetizers only to not order one. Or that the woman who went into the restroom before her had purposefully used all of the toilet paper and was most definitely a coke head. She would make her thoughts known to us by bringing them up at every natural pause in a conversation. Most of her comments were delivered in a lighthearted, humorous tone. But we had grown tired of what we came to interpret as paranoia and complaining. For this reason, we developed a habit of rambling when she was around, to avoid any silence during which she could insert her negativity. Though she was opinionated, she was always polite, allowing each of us to go on talking without interruption. After a few months of this, she stopped accepting our invitations out. Neither would she invite us to wine nights at her place or to her frequent work parties, events at which we had initially all bonded. We were at first relieved, but it later became clear how much we missed her presence. Without her in our lives, we ended up spending most of our conversations theorizing about what she might think of this or that person. Unfortunately, she refuses to take our calls or respond to our texts and emails. I heard from one of her coworkers, a mutual acquaintance of ours, that she decided she could no longer associate with a group of such self-centered people.

400 swim, 300 kick, 200 drill, 100 build. It was NOT pretty, but I hacked my way thru a pre-meet warm-up today, guys. For me, there’s no better reminder of how fast time passes and how quickly the body decays like a trip to the pool lol 🏊😉👵💦 #swammer #rats 💚 #aquabears 💜💛 #terrapins 💙🐢#vsco #vscocam

whitsofwhimsy:

You don’t have anywhere to be. You can barely remember the days when you did. The days when you pounded the sidewalk with your heels, speed walking and weaving through the crowds of other people who had places to be. The streets are quiet now. Those people are inside offices sitting hunched over computers — or maybe the high-achievers and the ones trying to be healthier, feeling guilty about eating potato chips and a candy bar for lunch, are standing in front of their screens, one foot rested on an ergonomic foot bar made for standing desks. You don’t feel very bad about eating the pastries in front of you. When you wipe the flakes off the tabletop, several birds fly over to pick up the crumbs. They too don’t have anywhere to be.
